Are there any drag bars in your area? Go dressed as a boy to size the place up, then go dressed as a female. Nobody will say anything.

Visit any black clubs as a boy and see what is going on. Chances are there won't be any drag action in a straight bar (but you never know) but if you have any gay clubs they are usually drag friendlier.
