Not to wory, Michelle. Higher education is great, but for different reasons many people can't pursue it. The important thing is self-education. Don't stop learning and never stop trying to expand your horizons.

I will be the first one to shame myself and admit to being nothing career wise, i'm a cleaner and a mother, i did go to college but child care issues and hubbies shift prevent me from following what i want to do x

I know what you mean about the commute. I don't think that I'd survive having to go any further than the back bedroom (which is now my office).

I'm probably the least educated so far. GED, then an Associates degree in sociology (that I ended up changing my mind about working the the field I'd planned on). Now a moderately successful small business owner (Computers and electronics which had always been a hobby and a passion). No employees yet, but at this point I don't need them, not sure if I want to expand either; it still feels like a hobby, but I'm making decent money. We did manage to land this wonderful house with a storefront downstairs and plenty of room for the family upstairs. So going to work for me is quite the commute. LOL!

This old (60yr) white boy only managed a bachelors in art (graphic art & design and photography), but also took two years of law before dropping out to pursue a career in telecommunication.

Have a hundred or so certificates of completion in electronic design and engineering, PBX system design, microwave transmission, fiber network design, data transmission, audio/video broadcasting transmission, IT networking, and a slew of others that if all put together would equate to a masters, however, most of this is industry specific and not even available in any college, university or even trade school. We pretty much have to train our replacements as you can't find most of this knowledge anywhere except in the trade.

Also graduated from a trade tech high school with a three year certificate in Electronics, TV and Radio Design and Repair where I designed and built both an AM/FM receiver and a black and white (it was a LONG time ago- TUBES!) TV from scratch (including fabricating the sheet metal chassis), which I then had to trouble shoot and repair after the instructor inserted "gremlins" for me to find. We even made our own transistors. This was at about 16 or 17 years of age.

Sorry if my limited number of official academic degree brought the average down.

I'm proud to be a black loving slut, but I also speak 5 languages, have two degrees in Language Pathology and Developmental Psycholinguistics (yawn) and I studied at MIT for a while on a research secondment from the UK, where I did my degrees.

I'm also a qualified accountant - don't ask how THAT fits in! LOL

I do have a German edition, but I only used it for reference when I wanted to check the English translation against the original German. My German, even then, was far from up to reading Kant. I did, however, make a very crude translation of a German book on the problem of the Ding an Sich in Kant. I don't see why you should express skepticism when someone says that he's read Kant. People actually do.

At the risk of offending some of you, I don't feel like western philosophy became interesting until Dostoyevsky came into the picture.

All of the metaphysics, epistemology, and aesthetic principles on the planet can't hold a candle to a solid existential read. That is, of course, my opinion. ;D

Second, a lot of you have an high education level, I think is not important, but it is something more that in life could help.

After my diploma in chemistry I went to London to learn some english (I'm italian), I made ESOL course in Lambeth College for one year.

and I made a 2 year professional course in movie production in Milan, movie direction, movie editing, and all about movies.

so, I'm also a filmaker, but in my life I have produced only 1 porn movie, sold in USA.
I want to make a new movie, the idea is: I will go around the world and meet NW members....lol

anyway, now my life is all about trading forex and commodity, I was great in math and that is my place.
