To answer the question I will examine who participate in this, who makes money from it and who benefits from white men messiong up there life.

I think our obsession with it has to do with our deepest animal nature. While I will acknowledge the idea of a conspiracy as plausible, it seems to me more probable that big media is just following the trends of the crowd; if they test-market it, and it gets good results, they will make more of it. The boom of mass IR in recent years coincides with the advent of wide-spread internet use since the late 1990's. NW has practically always been around albeit underground, but the internet seems to have significantly facilitated its spread into mainstream culture.

Just some random thoughts. I really doubt that there's any conspiracy outside of our own made up fantasies. I think the attraction to IR is psychological for most of us white guys and talking about it is very erotic to me. On the one hand beautiful white women look hot with black guys, and on the other hand there is this whole taboo thing where most of us were taught that it was wrong and that just makes it even hotter. The whole debate about white male vs black male penis size also contributes to this.
